Men’s Basketball Players make History against Morrisville
Seniors Nate Curry and Zegary Scott continued to make shockwaves through the men’s basketball program. On Saturday, January 21, the two seniors set out to accomplish two different records.
Scott coming into the game was three assists away from becoming the first player to record 500 assists. In the first half of the game, he achieved that goal after a made three pointer.
Curry, coming off a career high of 29 points on January 17, came into Morrisville with only 15 points to get to 1,000 points. With the crowd anxiously counting down, Curry hit the record with a layup and a three with three minutes left in regulation.
Although it was an afternoon filled with records, Morrisville spoiled the moments by taking the first win out of the two matchups between the teams this season.
The Mustangs came in hot and ready to score while the blue and white took some time to get some momentum. By the time momentum got behind the Lions, the game was almost over.
Missed shots and injuries have continued to plague the men’s team since starting conference play. The biggest factor is that the team is full of young talent.
Players in their first college season Chase Robinson, Isaiah Milien and Kyle Rhoden, have added speed and aggressiveness on both ends of the court. However, as talented as they are, they are continuing to learn what it takes to win in college.
Transfer from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Isaiah Eggleston has added a new offensive force to the lineup as well. Even though he is the big man in the middle, he has a jumper that he is able to utilize in different situations.
After this matchup, the men’s basketball team is now fourth in the United East conference.
