PSH Volleyball Splits First Six Matches of the Season
The Penn State Harrisburg volleyball team opened their 2022 campaign at Misericordia University.
The Blue & White fell to their opponent on Thursday, Sept. 1, in the first three sets. However, the Lions bounced back quickly winning both matches on Saturday, Sept. 3. After falling short in the first set, Penn State Harrisburg fought back to win the next three sets, ultimately earning them a 3-1 victory. Their next match against host, Hood College, proved to be rewarding. While it may have taken all five sets, the Lions earned themselves a second victory of the day.
The Lady Lions fell to Lebanon Valley College in their home opener on Thursday, Sept. 8. Anna Ruff led the team with 6 kills on .200. However, itt was a quick turnaround for the Lions as they had a tri-match on Saturday, Sept. 10. Again, Anna Ruff led the team in kills with a total of 25 between the two matches. She also led in blocks against Shenandoah with a total of 6. Senior, Alexa Henry, shared her excitement for this season. “I’m most excited about playing with my team and getting to play really competitive teams! Definitely playing those higher level teams has taught us a lot about ourselves and us as a team.” She also discussed what she hopes to get out of this season. “I really hope to capture that conference championship because we’ve been so close in years past and I think this year we have a pretty good chance of getting there.”
Following their match at Mt. Aloysious on Tuesday, Sept. 13th, the volleyball team will compete on their home court Thursday, Sept. 15th against Wilson College at 7:00 PM.
