PSH Volleyball Finishes Their Week Off Strong

October has been a challenging month thus far for the PSH volleyball team. The Blue & White (9-8, 0-2 United East) fell to Penn State Altoona 3-1 on Thursday, Oct. 6. The Harrisburg Lions took the lead in the first set, outcompeting Altoona in an exciting 29-27 match. However, Harrisburg fell in the next three sets with scores of 20-25, 25-27, and 18-25. Carolina Hernandez had 14 kills while Olivia Koicuba and Tori Henderson both accounted for 20 digs. 

The PSH Lions then traveled to Morrisville, New York on Saturday, Oct. 8, for their first conference tri-match of the season. The Harrisburg Lions first competed against fellow Penn State satellite campus Penn State Berks and fell in the fifth and final set. After a six point setback in the first set, the PSH Lions came back to win 29-27 in the first set. They then fell to Berks in the next two sets before winning the fourth set 25-17. The Harrisburg Lions took the lead early on in the fifth match, but could not hold on. Penn State Berks walked away with the overall win of the match. The Blue & White faced another challenge when they had to compete against hosts, Morrisville State. The Lions fell in the first three sets with scores of 11-25, 22-25, and 10-25. 

PSH volleyball could not focus on the tough weekend as they had to travel to Goucher on Wednesday, Oct. 12. The Blue & White walked away with a 3-0 win against the Gophers. The Lions are set to compete in a trimatch on Sunday, Oct. 16 at home with their first match starting at 12:00 PM.
