The 2023 season has been kind to the men’s cross-country squad so far, as the athletes have put together top finishes in each of the past two invitationals.

According to PSH Athletics, after opening the season at the Lebanon Valley College Dutchmen Invitational, Penn State Harrisburg finished 6th out of 11 in the United East Championships Preview at Cairn University. It was a strong finish, but not quite as good as they had hoped. When the team returned home on September 23 for the Bud Smitley Invitational at Penn State Harrisburg and won the entire event. John Carnesi and Angel Patino each finished in the top ten, leading the way for the Nittany Lions.

On September 30, the squad turned in a similarly strong performance at the Penn State Abington Invitational, finishing 5th out of 17. Once again, it was John Carnesi who led the way for PSH in the 8k.

Both teams competed most recently in the Coach Caslin Classic at Goucher College in Baltimore on October 6. As has been the case for much of the season, John Carnesi led the way for the men’s squad and Sarah Gibson was tops amongst the women.

Next up, Penn State Harrisburg heads to Baltimore for the Coach Caslin Classic at Goucher College on October 6.
