Intramural Soccer Kicks at Finals

2023 Intramural Soccer Champions – Engineering

The intramural soccer season kicked off on September 21, with a new batch of teams battling to become champions. The first night of games started with Sukuti FC v. Pokitey Squad, Abusement Park FC v. Forca Madrid and Violent Guppies v. Dirty Ducks. The winning teams of the first night were Pokitey Squad 0-1, Abusement Park 4-1, and Violent Guppies 10-0. 

The second round of games were played from September 25 to September 28. On night one the teams were Team Number 1 v. CNBT FC, Inter HBG FC v. PSU Fusion, and Engineering v. BKL. Team Number 1, Inter HBG FC and Engineering were the winners with scores of 7-0, 2-0 and 5-0. The following night, teams were EMK v. Manchesthiar United, Burg Puck v. The Mighty Martin, and All Luck No Skill v. Wingman FC. Manchesthiar United, Burg Puck and Wingman FC secured the wins with scores 5-2, 5-2 and 2-0. Night three of the second round consisted of the teams Hasbulla Fan Club v. Menace FC, Burg Puck v. BKL and Inter HBG FC v. Pokitey Squad. Menace FC, Burg Puck and Inter HBG FC were the winners with scores 4-0, 2-0 and 3-2. The fourth night’s games included the Violent Guppies FC v. Forca Madrid, FC FU v. PSU Fusion, and EMK v. CNBT FC. Violent Guppies FC and Forca Madrid ended in a tie 2-2. PSU Fusion and EMK secured the win for their teams 2-1 and 4-0. 

The third round of games were held on October 2 and October 5. The teams on the first night were Engineering v. Dirty Ducks, Hasbulla Fan Club v. The Mighty Martin, and Menace FC v. Wingman FC. Engineering, Hasbulla Fan Club, and Menace FC were victorious with scores 13-0, 4-3 and 2-1. The second night’s teams were All Luck No Skill v. Manchesthiar United and Sukuti FC v. Abusement Park FC. All Luck No Skill and Sukiti FC came out on top with scores 5-1 and 2-0. 

It was then time for the playoffs. The first round on October 6  was with Inter HBG FC v. Violent Guppies FC. Inter HBG FC secured the win 3-1. The next playoff round was held on October 9 with teams Engineering v.  Manchesthiar United and Menace FC v. All Luck No Skill. Engineering and Menace FC were the winners with scores of 3-0 and 4-3. 

It was then onto the semifinals. Burg Puck came into the round after having a bye in the playoff round. Teams were Burg Puck v. Inter HBG FC and Engineering v. Menace FC. Inter HBG FC, and Engineering won the round with scores of 4-0 and 2-1. All eyes were then on the championship. The championship game consisted of Inter HBG FC v. Engineering. Engineering won the round with a score of 2-1 and were the champions of the intramural soccer season. 

 Engineering player Justin Elnahrawy was excited for the team’s championship victory.   “It feels great, we played really well, we’re just a bunch of friends that we met on campus. It’s nice we all got out, it shows our passion of soccer…,We had a lot of fun, we played with a lot of good friends,” Elnahrawy said. 

“It was a great experience. We got it done by rotating the squad making sure everybody shows up and is sportsmanlike,” he added. 

With soccer coming to an end, the next intramurals sports are flag football, bowling, and dodgeball.
