Flag Football Tackles Down at Finals

Penn State Harrisburg’s intramural flag football season kicked off with fifteen teams. 

The season opened with Free Swag Boyz v. Inter HBG FT and Scammer v. 2 Millimeter Defeaters. Free Swag Boyz and 2 Millimeter Defeaters secured wins with scores of 21-13 and 18-0, respectively. 

The second round of matches began with Death Wish v. Be Athletic and RNL v. Thx for the W. The following matches consisted of Team 9 v. M-O-T-I-O-N and Burg Puck v. Be Athletic. Team  9 and Burg Puck secured wins with scores 22-18 and 27-8. The third match of the round included CBFW v. Abusement Park and Freeswag Boys v. Mud Dogs. Both matches were hard fought battles with close scores, however CBFW and Free Swag Boyz pulled off the wins with scores 18-15 and 20-18. The next matches were Death Wish v. Thx for the W and RNL v. 2 Millimeter Defeaters. RNL and 2 Millimeter Defeaters secured victory with scores of 30-18 and 28-20. 

Then the third round kicked off. The first match included Team 9 v. Scammer and CBFW v. Inter HBG FT. Team 9 won the match by one point, 28-27, and Scammer won the match with a score of 27-13. It was then time for Abusement Park v. Mud Dogs and Burg Puck v. M-O-T-I-O-N. Abusement Park and M-O-T-I-O-N won the matches with scores of 34-20 and 33-9. The next match was CBFW v. Be Athletic and RNL v. Scammer CBFW. Be Athletic forfeited from the match, meaning RNL and Scammer secured the wins with scores 30-0 and 31-0. 

For the fourth round of matches it was Free Swag Boyz v. M-O-T-I-O-N and Death Wish v. 2 Millimeter Defeaters. M-O-T-I-O-N and 2 Millimeter Defeaters both won their matches with 30 points. Team  9 was scheduled to return to compete against Burg Puck but both teams forfeited the match. The other match consisted of Abusement Park and Thx for the W battling it out on the field. Abusement Park won the match with a score of 28-21. It was then time for Mud Dogs v. Inter HBG FT. Inter HBG FT secured the win with a score of 28-26. 

After the round of matches it was time for the playoff round. In the quarterfinals it was M-O-T-I-O-N v. Inter HBG FT, Abusement Park v. FreeSwag Boyz, CBFW v. RNL, and Team 9 v. Millimeter Defeaters. Teams M-O-T-I-O-N, Abusement Park, CBFW, and Team number 9 each were victorious in their matches. In the semifinals it was M-O-T-I-O-N v. Abusement Park, and CBFW v. Team 9. M-O-T-I-O-N and CBFW secured wins with scores of 27-14 and 39-15. All eyes were then on the championship round as M-O-T-I-O-N faced off against CBFW. M-O-T-I-O-N completed the win scoring 26 points and were named the champions of intramural flag football in 2023. 

M-O-T-I-O-N team captain Mahki Hamlett was excited about the team’s victory. 

“It feels really good to be back here for the third time. Me and my team went through a little struggles, we had teams up on us. We found our ways out of those positions, came back on top and took the W,” Hamlett stated. 

As flag football came to an end, bowling and dodgeball were up next on the schedule.
