Penn State Harrisburg Lion Ambassadors hosted Ghost Tours on Halloween night, getting the students in the spirit for spooky season. The event was held from 8-10 pm. Students gathered in the Olmsted Atrium prior to the event and received a sweatshirt until supplies lasted. In groups of fifteen, students began their tour, which took them around the Olmsted Building and next to the Student Enrichment Center until they got to the Nittany Lion statue. While the students were being guided on the tour, several members of the Lion Ambassadors scared the tourgoers. The Penn State Nittany Lion even made an appearance, participating in the fun by dragging one of the tour guides at the end of the tour and getting involved in the act.

Marissa Johnson, Co-Chair of Traditions and Legacies for the Lion Ambassadors, provided her input on the event.

“This is actually the tenth annual ghost tours, so we just kind of make it a traditions and students enjoy, like, coming and going on a spooky walk through campus,” Johnson said.

“I think Halloween in itself kind of puts people in a certain mood…,” she added.

“It’s the season to be, like, spooky I guess.”

Emma Schomberg, fellow Co-Chair of Traditions and Legacies for the Lion Ambassadors along with Johnson, echoed Johnson’s comments.

“Originally, it was actually supposed to be a tour of the entire campus and its history,” Schomberg noted.

“It turned into more of a spooky, scary, and just easy, fun event for kids to join and have some fun,” she added.

Schomberg also added why she wanted to help lead the ghost tours.

“I really like creating events and different things along those lines. I chose to run for Traditions and Legacies chair because I like to create fun events,” she said.

The Lion Ambassadors will continue their tradition of hosting the ghost tours, and next year will mark the eleventh time they have done so. If you missed out on the event next year or were unable to receive a sweatshirt before supplies ran out, there will be another opportunity in the next few years to do so. Be sure to check the Corq app or PSH Calendar of Events next Halloween for updates on what time the ghost tours will be held.
