After table tennis and badminton concluded their seasons, volleyball was next in line for intramurals. The season consisted of 19 teams. Bookman, Gimpies, Dirty Ducks, Big Motion, Abusement Park, I Like Digs, Set Some Balls, Kiss My Ace, The Engineers, The Africans & Adam, How I Set Your Mother, No Results Gym, Mogwarts, Som Tin Wong Wit Mi Balz, Off In Church, Spike Your Balls, Team Silly, Gully Boiz and Spiked Lemonade were the teams.
After 7 teams were eliminated, it was time for the playoffs. In the quarterfinals, teams Spike Your Balls v. Gully Boiz, Off In Church v. Spiked Lemonade, Big Motion v. The Africans & Adam, and Kiss My Ace v. Set Some Balls battled each other. Spike Your Balls and Spiked Lemonade won their matches, setting up a match between the teams in the semifinals. Big Motion and Kiss My Ace advanced to play each other in the semifinals as well.
In the championship round the last two teams were Spiked Lemonade v. Kiss My Ace. After a hard fought battle, Spiked Lemonade was victorious and were crowned as champions of intramural volleyball. Team captain Nicholas White was satisfied with the win.
“What we did to win the championship was we lost our first game of the season, but we pushed through lots of practices before our games, we practiced setting the ball and blocking,” White explained.
“We were undefeated ever since…I would say we pushed through our second sets and that’s what pushed us through the season,” he added.
Basketball is the next intramural sport on the schedule.
