Penn State Harrisburg’s Gaming & Esports Club hosted the 2024 Spring LAN, a big get-together where game lovers gather and play games all night. They host tournaments, opportunities for door prizes, and many other casual game options for students to meet others with similar interests.
The club was looking for people who share their gaming preferences, whether that be Minecraft, Super Smash Bros, or simply a music game enthusiast. On top of the games, there was free food and two raffle prizes. Students had the chance to win Nintendo memberships and board games or grips.
Silas Connell, one of the organizers of the event, explained the purpose of the Spring LAN.
“LAN is like a local access network, and it’s something that people who play video games have been putting on for a while, where they hold tournaments and just all come together as a community to have local games,” Connell said.
“We have put that into Penn State Harrisburg, and we have these events where we have food and we have prices and everything, and we just like to create a space that people can just come and relax. So that’s the purpose for us,” she added.
The Gaming & Esports Club consistently holds several events throughout the semester, so anyone interested will have several opportunities to join any future events. Check the Corq app and PSH Calendar of Events for more information.
