After wiffleball completed its season, intramural kickball kicked off its championship round. The season began with a total of eleven teams: Kiss My ASCE, BOOKMAN 3.0, Dirty Ducks, Return of the Silly, The TopShottas, Free Agents, Balls of Duty, Kickin’ It, OVO FC, Abusement Park and The Sons of Pitches.
In the first round of games, teams Kiss My ASCE, Return of the Silly, The TopShottas, Free Agents, and OVO FC had byes and automatically advanced to the quarterfinals. Matches included BOOKMAN 3.0 v. Dirty Ducks, Balls of Duty v. Kickin’ It and Abusement Park v. The Sons of Pitches. Dirty Ducks Kickin’ It and The Sons of Pitches advanced to the next round.
In the quarterfinals it was teams Kiss My ASCE v. Dirty Ducks, The Return of the Silly v. The TopShottas, Free Agents v. Kickin’ It and OVO FC v. The Sons of Pitches. Dirty Ducks, The TopShottas, and The Sons of Pitches won their matches with scores 8-0, 11-1, and 14-5. Kickin’ It secured the win from Free Agents, but the score is unknown.
In the semifinals it came down to the final four teams: Dirty Ducks v. TopShottas and Kickin’ It v. Sons of Pitches. The TopShottas and The Sons of Pitches secured the wins with scores 5-3 and 3-2. In the championship The Sons of Pitches won the match with a score of 12-4 and were crowned the champions of the intramural kickball season.
Sons of Pitches captain Colby Blakeman was excited about the win for the third year in a row.
“We worked really hard the last two weeks and getting ready for this because the last two years we’ve won it. We wanted to have a repeat and we were able to accomplish it,” Blakeman stated.
