The Penn State Harrisburg Hockey Team is back in action, sporting brand new home and away jerseys, after taking a year off due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“As we all know last year was really tough for all the schools. It was really unfortunate for our seniors, given the team we had coming into the 20-21 season; we had pretty high expectations to make a run at a championship.” -Team Captain Cameron Moore.

The last time the Blue & White stormed the ice was back in 2019 where they made it all the way to the DVCHC Championship where they suffered a tough loss to Kutztown University. Now it is 2021, which has given Head Coach Chris Moore a full extra year to fully prepare his team for the long journey ahead.

“We need to clean up mistakes we made… and bring a consistent effort on every shift.” -Head Coach Chris Moore

After tasting defeat at such high stakes back in 2019, now Senior team captain Cameron “CAM” Moore along with fellow teammates Dan Yanich, Jake Petras, and the rest of the Lion’s den are all hungry to get back to the championship.

“I know there is a sour taste in our mouth after losing in the championship of the 19-20 season. I’m very proud of the way we’ve grown in the last two years, and it’s only trending up from here.”-Team Captain Cameron Moore.

The Lions headed into the 21-22 regular season at 3-0-2 but were stunned by Catholic University by a score of 7-4 in their season opener.

“I don’t think anyone was happy with how we played against Catholic, and we are looking to get back to it… Maybe their season hasn’t started the way they would’ve liked, so I expect them to play a hungry and desperate game.” -Head Coach Chris Moore.

Since their season-opening loss, Penn State Harrisburg has gone 4-3 defeating Millersville, Salisbury, and Bloomsburg twice. Don’t let their 4-4 record distract you from the fact that the boys have racked up a total of 74 goals and have only surrendered 48, including preseason play, and are still very much in the playoff picture.

“I think we have a lot to prove, and I believe the future of this program is very bright.” -Team Captain Cameron Moore.

The Lions are set to face-off away at Neumann University after the return from break.
