With only a few games left in the regular season, softball has clinched a spot in the United East Conference playoffs. The team is currently sitting third in the conference with just a game separating them and Penn College.

The Lions are 13-5 in conference and 21-11 overall. They’ve had a string of conference away games in the past week competing against Wells College, Penn State Berks, Gallaudet, and Lancaster Bible.

They were able to wrap up both games against Wells in just 5 innings. However, the defending United East conference champs, Penn State Berks, dominated Harrisburg in the second game by beating them 6-0. Although Harrisburg was able to hold Berks to only one run in the first game, Harrisburg couldn’t get any offense going as they did not score in the first game.

Harrisburg went on to split with Gallaudet. They dropped the first game, 2-0 but were able to come back and win the second game 2-1. The next stop was another conference rival in Lancaster.

The Blue and White were able to sweep Lancaster Bible in their campaign. They beat the Chargers 6-0 in the first game and then 2-1 in the second game.

In their final stop of their away game stretch, the Lions dropped two conference games against Penn College on Tuesday. The results of the first game came to 7-0 and the next game was 9-1.

Mackzeine Sawdey threw the entire first game and struck out four out of the six innings. Sawdey crossed her 100th strikeout over the weekend against Lancaster Bible and was able to add four to her record on Tuesday.

Next up for the Lions is a home game against Penn State Abington on April 29 at 1 pm and 3 pm and will be honoring their seniors.
